Free science challenges your class can run this term

Arludo’s challenges are complete learning experiences — not worksheets. Students investigate, design, and submit. Teachers get everything they need to run them. Free, forever, for every class.

This isn’t a fun activity. It’s a learning experience.

This isn’t a fun activity. It’s a learning experience.

Every Arludo challenge is built on the discovery-discussion loop: students investigate through structured play, then teachers debrief. The challenge creates the conditions for the conversation. The conversation creates the understanding. Each challenge gives you: • A curriculum-aligned brief — what students will do, learn, and submit • Supporting resources — everything you need to facilitate, nothing you need to create • A real submission goal — students work toward something that matters, not just completion • A prize for the best submission — a year’s Science Portal subscription for the winning school

How to run an Arludo challenge

1

Sign up free

Create a free Science Portal account. Takes two minutes. No student accounts required, no IT setup needed.

2

Register your class

Join the active challenge. You’ll receive the full teacher resource pack — brief, facilitation guide, submission criteria, and assessment rubric

3

Run the challenge

Students investigate, play, design, and build. You facilitate and debrief. The challenge runs over 6-7 lessons — you choose how many sessions to dedicate

4

Submit and discover

Students submit their work through the platform. The best submissions are judged and prizes awarded. Every student receives a certificate of participation.

Current challenges — all free, all open

Start up one of our challenges whenever suits you. If it aligns to our challenge schedule each year, you can enter your students' submissions to win a free annual Arludo license for your class.

The Game Design Challenge

Years 3-6

What does it take to design a game that actually works? Students apply engineering thinking to build something real.

The Invertebrate Conservation Challenge

Years 3-6

The animals nobody notices are the ones holding ecosystems together. Students investigate why they matter — and design solutions to protect them.

The Engineering Design Process

New

Years 3-6

A structured approach to solving real problems. Students define, brainstorm, build, test, and improve — like real engineers.

Real prizes. Real recognition.

Real prizes. Real recognition.

The best submission from each challenge wins a year’s Science Portal subscription for the school — giving every teacher in the building access to the full control layer, for free. Every student who participates receives a certificate of completion. Every teacher who runs a challenge with their class gets recognition on the Arludo platform.
